last time i was in nyc visiting him he drew this. can't remember why the illustration but obviously i was being shady (teehee) his scribbles. sidenote: i don't hate his drawings... more scribbles... be i said he looks like drake & 2 other light skinned kids, smoe thinks i think ALL light skinned guys look alike (not true). he drew this pic as an example & funny thing is this pic DOES look like 3 light skinned guys i know (including him)! more of his apb character ... and apd once more
thanks to yelp i started my search for cupcakes in harlem (washington heights)...found some places, not too close. with this i decided to grin & bear. queshia b was going to MAKE cupcakes! went to corner store & bought mix, frosting...wait! no muffin pans?? so store didn't have muffin pans, smoe doesn't have muffin pans. looks like my cupcake craving just turned into CAKE craving.
i don't like having the lead role in baking (mixing) so i left that to smoe, i did prepare stuff to be mixed & took out pans & frosting & put it in oven though (i prefer the supporting roles)!...we cal this cake, blac man (pac man's black neighbor)
saturday started off productive and ended...well....woke up crazy early. watched some zelda cartoons ("excuuuuuuuuuse me princess"). went back to bed. woke up ate left over Chinese food. yelped some thrifts stores so i could get a game plan for the day.
after jotting down some notes on pieces of paper i was off to thrift in the east village. hours (and a lot of money) later i arose successfully w/ the loot (coat, purse, 3 pairs of shoes, some shirts & sweaters)...of course i prob didn't need any of this stuff as i'm trying to clean OUT my closet by giving away a lot of clothes.
next it was off to meet friends that evening. we got to dallasbbq's place & it was paaaaacked. after a ridiculous wait & me having to check up on the reservation we sat. immediately orders drinks (please note the plural...a bad move considering i only had a 1/2 of grilled cheese and hand full of fries for lunch...in retro a VERY bad move).

the icing on the cake is the fact that my dreams were so crazy last night don't remember all, but 3 stand out:
(1) for some reason the meeting spot for abberant was at my folk's house in atl. 2 outta 4 guys were already there and i kept going on and on about how i refuse to order pizza bc we ALWAYS order pizza when we get together to play. they shrugged and said ok fine. needless to say we ordered greek food and i was pleased with myself!
(2) i like a song called no hoe bc the beat rocks. smoe doesn't like anything about the song, so every now & again i play it to annoy him. anywho so in 1 of my dreams me and him are at a street party/carnival type atmosphere somewhere in another country. at the end of one group's parade guess what song they start playing?? yep the d lo song. i go nuts bc it's weird that they would play this random song...i was pleased.
(3) lastly, the day after this street party. there was a headline in a newspaper "5 year old stressed from KFC ban kills"...basically a 5 year old girl was so stressed about her parents banning KFC from their home that she killed her dad, attempted to kill her mom then went to work and killed 2 coworkers, injuring 1. just before i woke up i was trying to figure out the sequence of the killing (i.e. as her mom waited in the driveway at their home, 5 yr old shot her dad shot her dad point blank and killed him. right outside of her job 5 yr old shots her mom in the head, dunno if her mom survived or not. she shoots and kills the 2 people with desks closest
to her cubicle and injures another).
honorably thing about this story (if there is such a thing) is that she didn't do the punk move of shooting others then shooting herself. she stood her ground and the cops came to pick her up. not sure if she were to be tried as an adult or child, but the article mentioned her lawyers were going to focus on the no-KFC-stress she was under and plead temporary insanity! when i woke up i was blown away by my imagination and tried to figure out where that even came from. i was also most shocked by the fact that a 5 yr old even had a job!
all in all saturday was great & i'm not drinking until japan (august).
my morning can be explained through like a boss' fbook post:
Stalin is back for another appearance today. Day starts like this: 8:32 am “Is Queshia out today?” Me: “no.” Stalin: “Well, it’s after 8:30 am” Me: “OK (stare blankly back)” Stalin: “This is becoming the norm” Me: “(very irritatedly)No.. she has be...en here on time” Stalin:"First was Mon or was it Tues.” At this point I just stare blankly back.. ...and scene! with this we dubbed it "whatever wednesday"...gave it a hashtag & tried to make it trendy (pun) on twitter, but itnever caught on... oh well, there's always next week!
in other news, smoe found a spot in west harlem he liked (and fit the budget) so yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah 4 him :) sucks his departure is getting closer, but he'll be back- he'll visit dc more than i visit up there actually. not me making selfish demands, but to visit his fam & friends too.
So on a train from trenton (went to see trebypb thunder minor league baseball game for work) to DC.came back from LA at 11:35am. Just enough time to go to smoe's house, take an hour nap. Get dressed & catch 3pm train to trenton!
LA was very cool! Not exactly what I had planned (i.e. Being a super duper tourist & having Brent take time to show me around), but fun. Instead I helped him set up for his masquerade party...which I actually didn't mind! I felt all blue colar, like I was doing my manual laborish part in society :)
I'll put pics of the actual party & the hardwork he & his fam bam put in soon, stay tuned...
Must put down phone so I can braid hair & listen to music then take a nap before getting in at 1:30am :(
Soooo thanks to smoe's mom I made my flight. No only did she call me at 4:30, waking me up so I can not miss my 6:15 flight, but more importantly giving me time to actually pack!
After packing, by which I mean throwing some clean clothes in a bag, I speed off to smoe's house where I linked up w/ his mom & she drove me to dca! Got there at 5:30 on the dotl check in was quick & easy! Hence why I still haven't learned my lesson about being 'late' to the airport...
Which brings me to my title. Upon touching down I realized I know NOTHING about Kansas city except the Chiefs & dorothy-& her shoes! During this layover I posed the question what's in Kansas city on twitter & the book of face. I got back the name of some county (starts w/ an m) that has the biggest steak ever & warnings that kc is super violent so I should stay in the airport. I know there are gangs everywhere, but violence didn't even cross my mind when I thought of this place, jeez.
Just boarded plane & not only is there s crying girl- can't stand lil girls, lil boys are sooo much better! OMG she just said 'I hate you mommy' really really loud, eek. A screaming kid is super annoying, but I have to deal. Icing on the cake is a friggin aisle...up up stewardess just came by saying there may be 1 up in 6! Must go do the stink eye 2 other passengers so they don't even think about asking for it :)

long day at work, but rewarding: broke up my day by going to see boys & girls club kids to their final post camp performance (THOSE KIDS HAD SOOOOO MUCH TALENT)! almost like teared up bc a lot of them wouldn't have had the opportunity if it weren't for b&g club & their performance arts camp! was still at work around 6:30 when a parent we work with from cali gave me a call. she was shocked i was still at work, but we spoke about her son (died from inhalant abuse) and what she's gonna write for our news blog, pic to include for new site, etc. lastly before i left out i scanned all of our contest entries for our baseball summer project. they ranged from "i didn't try at all-pencil sketches" to "not your average super hero, well thought out images and ta lines" to "i'm gonna be super high-tech and draw a hero w/ computer graphics"! all in all summer programs taught me kids=good, fun projects! on my way home roomie & friend told me we're all on the same page so we're gonna tell the folks we want to rent their condo...in va :( all the crap i talk about va it seems
oh so happy to be home!!! sipping on champagne, watching smoe cook veggie sloppy joes. not "cooking" be it was my idea, plus i'm in charge of drinking, i mean buying the beverage of choice, and the tatter tots! sloppy joes would be NOTHING w/o the tater tots. :) i'm a lil iffy bc he's using a recipe that calls for ground beef when i have veggie chorizo (side note: i love you trader joes for supplying affordable, tasty soy-based meat alternatives. namely your veggie chorizo)
with that i end this post & put together my to do list for tomorrow (which is actually my main reason for blogging):
- get clothes outta cleaners - buy a dress for masquarade ball - buy a dress for ceremony?? - buy tix to ct - pack for dallas - write intro speech for ceremony - stop by bbq?? - go to artomatic?? - go into work to tie up loose ends for next week
...hmmm those are the 1st things that popped into my mind, so i'll focus on those 9 for starters, i'm sure SOMETHIN else will pop up tomorrow as saturdays are by far my busiest days :)
song o day: maybe i'm amazed (the faces)... so i tried to google the lyrics to this rock song that i always hear on dc101 & this song came up. the name of the group drew me in, and rod stewart was the factor that made me decide to include it as my song o the day....guitars rock so it was a good choice!
spent the day in southern maryland (about 2.5 hrs away from my apt)... working on a boys & girls club project for work, so went to camp brown to see the kids put together out prevention videos/commercials...
since i was in and out my service was too (thanks tmobile). on my drive back home got a call from bff in nycsaying her boyfriend was concerned smoe & i were in a metro train crash in dc! i'm super confused bc i hadn't heard about it at all. crazy bc normally i would be on the red line coming home from work. got a lot of calls from out oftowners to make sure i was ok. weird bc all of my local friends either texted or bb messaged me- maybe dc/md/va folks are too cool to call me?!
above is a pic from twitpics someone got from the news...not sure if you can see but 1 train is LITERALLY ON TOP of the other! was talkin to a friend who heard a lady sitting 3 cars back was still bumped to the ground, so she's not a fan of sitting in the front cars! what sucks most is that it was rush hour, so like most rush hours on public transpo that means a rack of people standing up and piled into cars! anywho unfortunately, thus far there's been (sketchy) reports of 4 dead & like 70+ injured. judt glad i'm finally home so i can check twitter & watch the news!
lastly, chris breezy gets off w/ 5 years probation & community service for beating down rihanna?? good ole justice system, eh? heard it on the radio and i have no words, but here's the bbc article i just read about that whole situation.
i think atl is 1 of the few places i can actually relax...so far i've been thinkin about work, but haven't done anything. laid up ALL yesterday afternoon. i finally saw an episode of matlock & in the heat of the nite...spunky old white guys make interesting main characters.
was going to go to some spot called motions, but we were too late so ended up going to lenny's bar to see hollyweerd. i've never heard of them, but apparently they're kinda popular in atl. glad i saw them, they had a lot of energy & i really like the last song they performed over a kid sister pro nails beat. got hit on a lot. atlanta guys aren't ass aggresive as dc & md guys, but they're so funny so you can't help but respond to their advances (even if you are rejecting them)...called smoe at the crack of dawn & as i was on the phone 2 guys were talking to me. 1 came up and didn't believe i was n the phone w/ my boyfriend so i had him talk to smoe...the other guy was like high and had a really soothing voice. so far he's the only jamaican-cubani've met in life.
in other news excited about seeing my bros this afternoon when we all go to see dance flick...we keeps it classy in our choice of theatrical movies :) also, janetjackson FINALLY got on her job & named and created our blog. she's off on a super fabovaca w/ hemlady. they'regoin on a cruise so told them not to eat too much (so enticing since there's always food to be had on ships) & to wash hands (being sick on vaca SUCKS).

very busy... am i the only 1 who's weekends are busier than my weekdays?? fridaysmoe & i tried to watch karate kid, but i ended up falling asleep... when we watch movies they're always bad (i.e. snakes on a plane, monkey shines, the room) or extra 80s (robocop, terminator)
saturday was ridiculous! so ridiculous in fact that i bought a new navi system fridaynitebc couldn't afford to be late for a minute- i schedule things too close. in the am volunteered w/ my pbm kids, afternoon volunteered w/ kidsave kids, evening went to gum springs historical society's 175th anniversary dinner. helped the president of the society do some event planning which was a good experience for me (yeaaaaa for community groups broadening my horizons)! that nite (a moment i've been waiting for) got to see drizzy perform!!!! almost didn't get to see him bc crowd was sooooo rowdy, so management at love almost shut it DOWN! he was good. not a huge stage presence, but that's okbc he's supposed to come off as an average guy so it def works for him. he's also cute & talented so that helps too. after that we go to meet up with my nemesis bc he's throwing a bday thing at another club...i go dance with them from 2:30-3am...i know the time bc we got A LOT of crap at the door and they weren't gonna let us in, but i kept saying we had to and pleaded our case until they did :) i also go to unload the big bottle of jack i had in my car for him... felt kinda guilty earlier in the afternoon when i had that and some wine in my car at a church parking lot (kidsave event was at a church).
finally got home around 4. went to bed. woke up at 7:15am & was off to the races...didn't do that bad, about an 11 min mile which is pretty good considering i didn't train at all & haven't seriously ran since army 10-miler in oct 2008.
all in all a great weekend, a few more weekend to do's & i can actually relax/unwind :)

smoe is killin me! Or as he puts it, 'melting the ice queen'... He sent me a DLN (daily love note) earlier this week at work & I was like tearing up (used to be a heartbreaker in my hay day, i'm gettin softer as I get older!) he hasn't sent me a DLN since I came back from Brazil so it was a surprise, plus it was a quote from lions & tigers & bears (an amazing song, love the lyrics)
Knowing he was leaving for NYC today for grad school prep stuff & work stuff I've been on edge all week. Yea yea yea I know he's only gonna be gone until tomorrow pm, but its like getting a taste of how life's gonna be when he starts school in the fall & I don't like it :(
